Although we all know we should floss at least once every day, not everybody understands how to do it properly. Learn how to floss your teeth properly with this step-by-step template by our dentists in Orem:
Cut a piece of floss approximately 18 inches long and wrap it around one of your middle fingers. Wind the leftover floss around the opposite hand’s identical finger. As the floss becomes unclean, this finger will pick it up.
Rigidly grip the floss between your thumbs and forefingers.
Using a moderate rubbing motion, slide the floss between your teeth. Never snap it into the gums.
Curl the floss into a C shape against one tooth when it reaches the gum line. Glide it into the gap between the gum and the tooth with care.
Maintain a firm grip on the floss against the teeth. Move the floss away from the gum with up and down motions, gently rubbing the side of the tooth. Carry on with this procedure for the remainder of your teeth. Remember to brush the back of your last tooth as well.
Throw the floss away when you’re done. A piece of floss that has been used will not be as useful and may leave germs in your mouth.
