An oral and maxillofacial radiologist is a dentist who has the knowledge and expertise when it comes to interpreting images of the head, neck, face, and jaw area for the detection of different medical conditions. In order for dentists to become an OMR, he or she must be able to complete a residency from the ADA or the American Dental Association’s accredited program. During his or her training, the dentist must gain a thorough knowledge with regards to the techniques, as well as with the interpretation of maxillofacial scans whether it is from ultrasound, MRI, CBCT, CT or other similar imaging technology.
